Sanjé James is a multimedia artist with a focus on film photography. She received her BFA in Photography at Lesley Art + Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her work aims to challenge viewers to confront their perceptions on people of color, with a particular emphasis on dismantling stereotypes imposed on Black individuals. Through a lens that delves into themes such as mental health, the current impact of social media, growing from girl to woman and her journey of self-exploration. By presenting these topics through photography she creates an introspective experience for the viewer, prompting them to reflect inwardly and reassess their own beliefs. Her objective is to foster a space for learning and unlearning, encouraging viewers to critically examine their thoughts and perspectives.
